Malfunctioning electric hatch motor

I have a 1990 firebird formula with the electric hatch that closes automatically. well my problem is that the hatch motor will go up but it will not go down i really need some help with this please assist me i am so desperate.

check the ground wire. i had the same problem in my 89 camaro and it was the ground wire. it wasnt grounded properly and caused the motor to act up.
