I havent had this race, but a guy I know that has a Chevy Cobalt SS he said that he wants to race me and he said that he would kick my ass. Im not to sure about this, they are pushing about 205 HP, although it is supercharged. It's an automatic, has anyone races a Chevy Cobalt SS yet?

well I dunno who would win, but supposidly Chevy under-rated the cobalt's power... I think that it would come down to a driver's race myself, you're both FWD and pushing about the same numbers so therefore I think it'd come down to the drivers...
EDIT: sorry I just re-read your post, umm him being an auto and you being a manual (I assume) is gonna' help a lil' in your favor too, but I still think it's a drivers race.

But that is 205 supercharged HP. Any idea on the torque on those things? I'm wagering that it is significantly less than R/T's ~205 trq. Weight plays a factor in this equation as well, but I do not know the weight on Cobalts as well. But the factor that is probably holding that guy back from beating you... automatic. From my experience with "sport transmissions," they don't shift when they are supposed to in order to maximize the output of the motor.
I don't know, I'm probably just babbling. However, I believe that you (depending on how well you shift/drive) will win. That's just my two cents though, I'm probably wrong. Worst case scenario: you two tie and he then brags that he beat a 3/S. This is just my two cents, no need to listen to my words ver-batim.

I wonder if this Cobalt guy has raced anything... worthwhile? Outside of his Cavalier & Sunfire brood. Death to all of them!

Tell him he's stupid and that he has a forced induced car and if he picked on the forced induced 3/S, he'd get his butt kicked.

Having a forced induced 3/S is like being a theif...
... you take everyone's money. :lol2:
Anyway, what Hotshot said is true. That Cobalt guy is trying to compare a forced induced car to an N/A. If you win, that would just be the cherry on top of this sundae.

Is the SS cobalt the same as the Eaton Supercharged Cavalier?

I don't know if it has an eaton supercharger, but yes it is just a cavalier with a supercharger on it.
Also, however I just did some research and it said that the SS (with a manual) runs 14.9 in the 1/4 mile, so I'm not sure how much of a difference an auto will make, but once again I say driver's race, b/c the auto that he has will put a few tenths of a second on his 1/4 mile so I dunno say about a 15.4????
I'm not good with these kinds of numbers, but I say it's gonna' be a drivers race. And if he still wins, tell him whoop-de-freakin' do, you're 2005 just beat my 14 year old car. And if he's still feelin' wonderful, just remind him that he drives a cavalier, while you get all the bit*** in your sexy 3/s :smokin:

I've heard 14.9.
As a matter of fact, it was right around there as I remember... I went to the track yesterday and there were two of them. Low 15's.

well all the sites I read were saying 14.9 and that it was .1 sec slower than an SRT-4 so I guess wischmaster just solved the question ne ways. Did you race him yet project ????

Yeah, I would race him.. in like 2 weeks when i get my stealth back. I dont know if any of you guys knew about it but I blew my engine. I found these guys around my area who specialize in rebuilding the motors for our cars. It is hot as shit, this engine is completely modified to the fuck extent. I will give you full details and everthing once I get my stealth back. I cant wait.. 2 weeks. ><

Srt-4's were hitting like 14.1 to 13.9 depending on the driver from what I saw. All were bone stock besides a BOV. They are pretty quick but that Cobalt can eat shit. :evillol:

well, theres one here in town, i have a 94 sl and i no that i can beat him. i havent raced him yet, but from what ive heard there not worth want you pay for them, justa stupid wing and a supercharger. though kinda quick, u should be able to pull him, id say end of second, third gear, depending on yalls launches...umm hes lighter so he'll get a better launch, but u just have him out powered, good luck and happy shifting

Ive actually driven the cobalt SS and ran one at the track, they are just as bad ass if not a tad bit slower then the SRT-4. it might have only 205 hp but it winds up really quickly, they run mid 14s with a good driver. sorry but an N/A 3s wont stand a chance.
