Turbo upgrade...

Well the othernight I was browsing the net for turbos and happened to stumble across this one( http://www.dsmparts.com/customer/product.php?productid=560&cat=166&page=1 ). I was wondering what else I would need for my car before this turbo. Other than a FMIC(eta: soon) and injectors(650s in my trunk). Let me know what you think.

650s are a little small for that turbo. And with an SAFC, going to larger injectors is risky thanks to its effect on timing advance. But you can see other recent posts about that. Your car most likely has an EPROM ecu. Have you considered selling the AFC/logger and getting DSMlink? I would suggest DSMlink, 950s, 255 pump with reg (what size is an "extreme motorsports" pump?), as well as that FMIC. That would make a nice setup. That turbo is capable of outrunning the stock MAS, but DSMlink has some workarounds for that, or the MAFt is an option, especially if you want to go with a large nonrecirculating BOV like Tial, etc.

I hope I'm not wrong in saying that this turbo is too large a jump for you. From 22lbs/min to 60lbs/min... I think not. Would recommend a mitsu turbo like a 16g, in which an S-AFC and 660s would be good for. Also, I doubt your pump is large enough for the 60T.

oh and as for the intercooler I'm not sure yet. I've been looking at a few but depeding on what turbo I want to upgrade to edventualy will determine what size intercooler I buy. I found a nice greddy fmic but I've heard some stories about greddy fmic.

What is your goal for the car? Reaching a certain whp, 1/4 time, something else? The three turbochargers you listed from smallest to largest is: evoIII16g, RS49T, RS60T. The larger the turbo the more supporting mods you'll need.

My goal is to reach somewhere close to 400whp

I Think you should start with the 16g as Mr Wagon mentioned. It can do 400 whp if you really know what you are doing, but 350 is easy enough with the right parts, some knowledge, and some experience. Making a mistake on a 60 pound turbo can be quite costly, while the smaller 16g will be more forgiving. Also, your 650s in your trunk are sized quite nicely for a EVO16g. Mr Wagon seems to have hit that point too already. I think its your best bet right now. Great starter turbo, probably the smallest I would go, but still capable of 11 second passes in the future with the right mix of parts and know how. Can't beat that.

EVO III 16g will get you to 400hp but not much furter.
But I would go for this turbo here

GET A BOOST GAUGE! You need one before you start tweaking with your turbo/boost.
