E-brake burnouts?

Hi everyone i am have a question on using the E-brake to burnout. but first let me tell you what has happened so far when i attempt them. first time i tried i was in a level parking lot pulled the E-brake up about hlf way then gunned it. the car moved because i didnt realise i had to pull the brake up farther. so i decided that i wasnt going to attempt another one that day, so yesterday i go for it again i pull the E-brake all the way up and the car holds but the wheels dont spin i had it revd high enough where the tires should have spun but instead i just herd the motor going like normal. once i noticed i wasnt spinning i stopped in fear that i was going to mess up my clutch of which i think i did because it smelt like fish after. But the wierd part was there were no abnormal sounds comming from the engine when this happend like no grinding or squealing .
could someone please tell me what i did wrong or how to do these properly because i am afraid i messed my clutch but there is no evidence to support it.

Have you thought about your tires being GOOD STICKY TIRES?!?!
swiftskater

no because they are stock tires. although they are low on air compared to recomended psi.

stock tires are good enough to be sticky. Also in order to spin the tires pull the brake as hard as you can and then PUNCH the gas pedal. IT won't work good with sticky tires. DId your car pull foward with the revving? IF not, were you even in gear?

i had the e-brake all the way up and the car didnt move i am positive i was in gear because i tried once and didnt move so i double checked everything. i think i dropped the clutch at 4,000 rpms which is normally more then enough for me to do a regular spin.
i am just worried about the clutch if anything, if i were to mess it up would there be a distinct sign or sound when it happens?

No sound but a smell of a burnt clutch. it is strong.

oh and dropping the clutch is going to short the life of your tranny and clutch.

well it was strong smell, so instead of dropping it just do it like i normaly would drive?

How about this, stop while you are ahead. When you burn the clutch out, unless you have the money, or you know how to fix it or somebody who can,
it is going to be a $1000 dealership fix. unless your car is under warranty.
and about the ? above, you can but it would be harder to keep the car still. Especially with good front tires.

this is the normal way people do this. launch the car at 4000rpms THEN pull the ebrake. you have to get the wheels spinning before you pull the ebrake.
you cant sit there with the ebrake up, then drop the clutch. nothing is going to happen.

Here's how I do it....Grab the e-brake. Pull it all the way to top. Have your shifter at first. Rev to 5k. Dump the clutch. Sit there smokin all day long. Just drop the e-brake when you want to burn away.

how do you go off and call us idiots? he asked how to do it. not one person here said that it was a great thing to do. its his car. if he wants to destroy the tranny just to do burnouts, then thats fine with me. im not going to be paying for it.

If you guys want a "Car and Driver" burnout then put some bleach on the ground and then burn out. Probably not the healthiest thing to do, but thats how they get the smoke so white. Also, our cars differential sucks, so more than likely if you break lose, you will get a "1 spinner". Mine is the right wheel that breaks lose. Unless its wet out.

Suggestion - Don't do it. Well unless you payed for it and will pay for the repairs.... But breaking something mommy and daddy threw thousands of dollars into for you wouldn't be such a great way to repay them.

Here's what I say...I'm 26, pay for everything myself, build my cars myself, and I do what I want. I've had my car for 2 years, built it up nice, and put 70,000 miles on it driving the way that I do and haven't put one thing into it that's "broke". And who needs bleach when you can just build the car up to where it'll spin with ease? Anyways, I'm not here to argue or bicker about this, I only do it to show off to the V-8 RWD idiots that think they can powerstall better than I can, or even the ones that don't believe a FWD 4cyl Eclipse can do a burnout. I don't know how many times I've sat there smokin' the tire till it blows.

So you fuck up a good set of tires just to show of to a V-8? hmmm...

I am just trying to understand the reasoning behind their actions. I mean i dont understand why you would put so much strain on the EXPENSIVE components of your car if its not needed. Oh..i dont care what they do to their car, its their money/tranny/engine/differentials/tires/etc.

don't forget abot the cv joints. Put a un needed amount of strain on them and they a decease quickly.
