hmmm what else do i need to do?

recently when i went to put my car in gear it wouldn't budge...so we replaced the fuses (several handfuls now) and changed the brake switch but it continues to blow the fuses...also as this problem began my cruise control stopped working....any suggestions maybe we haven't tried?

You brake light/cruise cancel/shift solenoid switch down at the pedal is fried, I bet. If you look, you probably don't have brake lights either. Replace it, should fix it.

Whoops (duh) missed that you've done the switch. Next most likely would be the shift detent solenoid or it's wiring under the console. The solenoid may have burnt up and fused the windings, or the wiring might have gotten bit by the shifter. Also try putting a new fuse in, and move the wiring to the brake light switch and the shift solenoid around, and see if it shorts.

When does it blow the fuse? Right away, first time you hit the brake, or what?

You can always put a paper clip in place of the fuse, and replace whatever catches on fire. that's the quickest way to find it :lol:
