96' Maxima vs 01' Intrepid ES

Sorry, this is not a drag topic, though I'm sure the Maxima would win unless maybe if auto-shift is used on the intrepid (stock 0-60 is rated 8 seconds somewhere w/o auto-shift).
I'm searching for my first car. I want a car with decent power, reliable, under $7000 and under 60K miles.
I checked JDpower, epinions, carsurvey.org, autos.msn.com and they both seem to be reliable cars. The dead chrysler engines you hear about are the 2.7's.
Both cars are listed $7000.
The Dodge is a 3.2L 222hp V6, 49K miles, 2001. I have a link here:

The 96 Maxima is black, only 40k miles dealer has no pics, just says it had all power, and ABS.
Both cars are automatic.

I like the Intrepid better, but i'm worried bout reliability. However, the Maxima is almost 10 years old.

Ide really appreciate any comments.
Thank You.

....only 40k miles dealer ...

- how can ? one verify the miles; dont believe papers, hearsay, gauge...
- If true, 40k/10 yrs might mean prblems for too little utilization. Rubber things, seals harden. (Dunno really how big issue this is; depends lots of history: if it was first yr driven 40k, then just standing 9yrs)

Hey your absolutely right. But I'm not retarded! lol
CARFAX

I'm ganna buy 30 day unlimited Carfax reports. Just type in credit card #, then pop in vin.
When I'm serious to buy I'll do it. Once you buy it you can post a direct link to the car's history for y'all to see for free. That's why they only give u 30 days and make you wait 6 months to be able to buy another. I can do some for y'all for free when I get it, just ask.

Here's a sample report:

neat huh

CARFAX...

Thieves fabricate even vin numbers. Report might be ok on most cases. Like odo dodooo... biggest everyman sports here. Getting to know the previous owner might be the only real chance to verify.

"Like odo dodooo... biggest everyman sports here." I have not a single clue of that you said. But anywho, let's say everything is A O.K.
Which car is better?

Damn, the Maxima was in an accident with another vehicle. Carfax shows the dodge being clean. But it keeps saying the vehicle was serviced. I think I can link it here: http://www.carfax.com/cfm/UUCP_ViewReport.cfm?VIN=2B3HD56JX1H676572&Email=RIGHTWINGZIONIST%40YAHOO%2ECOM&SID=%2F%23L%23%22S%22%5C%3D%23%2EFKU%3F%5F%200LN%2 E%0A&PopUpStatus=0&usage_type=&CFX_ID=CFX000009197185

I found an altima 2001 36k miles for 7g also. The carfaxlink: http://www.carfax.com/cfm/UUCP_ViewReport.cfm?VIN=1N4DL01D01C220819&Email=RIGHTWINGZIONIST%40YAHOO%2ECOM&SID=%2F%23L%23%22S%22%5C%3D%23%2EFKU%3F%5F%200LN%2 E%0A&PopUpStatus=0&usage_type=&CFX_ID=CFX000009197185
It was a lease and fleet vehicle, also has 14 months drive train warranty left.

... I have not a single clue of that you said. ....

Scandinavian sports is to change the gauge mileage to get better price, or drive without cable. I'd guess 50% cars are rigged:)

One magazine went after ten old mercedeses, all "driven under 300k kilometers, proven". They checked out those, and every one of them had average 1,5million kilometers... have fun.

If crash is well done, should not be a problem. But who ? will make rust protection perfect as the chassis has been bent 'in every' corner - non visible.

Maxima is a nice car, especially for long trips, but dont expect to commute cheap...

I'd check out inspection failure rate on car models to get troublefree model; at least ADAC in Germany has good lists for the models sold there: maxima is included, and I suppose is very good on that list. German inspection is smtg different than US stamp on...

hmmm... needs german language skills:
