Turbo Conversion Question

I searched through past threads on here and couldn't find what I was looking for, so don't tell me to do so lol.

Could I just take my stock 10:1 SL engine, buy used twin-turbos, intake, piping, intercooler, w/e is needed for oiling them, and use a boost controller to keep it around 6-8 psi without damaging anything? Anyone know THAT much about turbos and compression ratio's that could tell me? I'm really considering doing it.

Twizted, can you still take pictures of your oil pressure sensor stuff? :)

In short, yes you can easily boost at 8 psi on 10:1. Theres a lot more to it though. There are plenty of threads about this on 3si that you can gain a wealth of info in.

Hell i'm boosting 13 PSI on pump gas, and i plan on getting up to 15 on pump gas and nearly 20 on race gas

Slade, I thought you were sure it wasn't the oil pressure sensor wires cuz they couldn't reach?

I can't get on 3si to search Stealthee, wont let me register cuz I have free mail.

Hotshot, I thought you had swapped a VR4 engine? or did you just do what I want to do to a SL engine?

i'm still on the SL motor right now. Now i'm planning on buying a busted engine in a couple months and build it up with forged lower compression pistons, but as for now, if it ain't broke, then don't fix it.

well i look further into it on 3si, and i saw people posting times of 14.6 after doin it all...seems like a waste to me. What do you run hotshot?

Well, I just still can't figure out what those two wires are because they're disconnected and just hanging there so I was hoping some pictures around that area will clarify things. But if it's too much trouble then that's okay. :)

Yeah I don't have a camera actually, i'd have to get my friend to bring his....does your oil gauge work?

Nope, the oil pressure guage is dead. I found the copper sensor thing but can't find the line that connects to it anywhere. The two dangling lines that I saw on top are there but are too short to reach all the way down. I tried tracing the lines to see where the originated from but the go under the manifold and just "disappear" so I haven't been able to do that either. :o/

i ran a 9.0 @ 85.3 in the 1/8 over a year ago with basically just to stock turbos, LS6 MAFT, and custom catback. and stock everything else. Had boost leaks too so i was running 9 PSI and holding 7 to redline.

To give you an idea in the 1/4, a board member on 3SI with a FWD TT who ran a 9.1 @ 86 on the same run ended up running a 13.5 @ 110 i believe.

ahh well once I saw all that's involved I don't think i'll waste my time, I forgot that fuel delivery was involved, I kinda just wanted to slap on the turbos and go....might as well sell and buy the vr4 as i planned.
