Tamiya seems to have just released their Monte Carlo Impreza for 2005. Looks like a beautiful car too!

Specs are:
Tarmac racing version of the Subaru Impreza as used in the opening race of the 2005 season in Monte Carlo and in round 2 in Sweden. Specially designed under chassis accurately depicts chassis as used on tarmac tracks.
- Overall length: 183mm
- BBS tarmac wheels with gold finish
- Accurate cockpit detailing even includes
- co-driver's head rest
- Includes small antennas used during '05
- 2 sets of markings (Solberg/Sarrazin)

Heres a link to a photo of the car also:

have they actually made a new chassis for this ? because i have just bought the 2004 rally japan impreza and it has loads fo parts from the 2001 spec. kit, and they aren't that good for accuracy, when i compare them to pics of the realy car there a quite a lot of differences.

What on earth is a "Co-Driver's head rest"? Last time I looked they were built into ALL rally seats.

The co-drivers head rest is the side pillars the bucket seat have. We have just put Sparco seats in with the side pillars into out RS1800 BDA Escort, and it makes life as a co-driver so much nicer, the helmet stays confined to the sea area finally rather then flying around like i am a rag doll.

Looks nice an all, but does it have engine detail?, I can't bring myself to build any kit that doesnt.

I know what you are saying. I like the see the hood removed and see an engine there. Tamiya are some of the best kits, but they do skimp on the engines sometimes..

Looks like one Hiroboy made earlier - can't see any differences to his Monte Carlo Scooby!

The car is in the workshop up north having a bit of an overhaul, I will post a photo of it when it arrives back, a fresh coat of high gloss black will make it look good too!

Cheers

Well you won't want to be building any modern rally cars then. Unfortunately, it has become the norm for all of them to be curbside.
On the plus side it makes for a quicker build.

Tamiya are really getting the most of their tooling lately. Can't really blame them, but it would be nice to see some all new kits. Biggest problem is the WRC has lost some of it's impact and popularity therefore sales of models are probably down too.
