WAIT...

You have to save money for the 750, but the 1000 is cheaper? Maybe I am confused, but the 1000 is a lot more than the 750s here.

Besides, I like the 1000 more. I guess it all depends on what you want it for. WHat type of riding do you intend to do with it?

ok i needed to clarify so i edited the post accordingly.

warning to new riders wanting to start on a high powered bike

i posted this thread this morning and then went for a ride to my chiropractor and back.

9:10 am about 60degrees F and a fine day for a ride. came to a road which is a long straight with hills and valleys.

No-one in front woohoo, boot it. near redline second gear flat out 90mph
and up comes the front. higher than ever before and quickly. i rode it out in second and let it come down itself but this thing just flicked up due to the road dropping and it all happened in the blink of an eye.

any way, not to be scared off to much i kept going and come to a slight right down hill and as the road straightened i gave it some at about 90mph again and for the first time ever i had a full lock tank slap. excuse the french but fuck me. i have no idea how i came out the other side upright and in one piece . the thing just turned on me and it all happened so quick.

so in conclusiuon after a long post, i think i'll keep this one or drop down to the 750. considering the new 1000 is the same weight as my 954 but with more grunt. i think i might wait awhile. and at least now i have some incentive to buy a steering damper

Shit, I just imagined in my head, wouldn't want it happen to me either. Didn't you already have a steering damper? If not, get one of those adjustable ones, like Scotts, Ohlins, or something equivalent. I once had mild headshake, but tank slaps are pretty scary. Damper would reduce it at least, but if you tend to go WOT in lower gears while coming off a lean, despite whichever 600/750/1000CC bike, I think the chances are more than likely you'll get headshakes or tankslaps if the bike puts out more than 100 rwhp.

I thought you didn't like Gixxers because of how the single lens headlights are shaped.

That's all you managed to respond? I think someone caught the Gixxer-bug. :D

I looked, but other than meaty top-end, there's nothing special about Gixxers; but for some reason everyone loves it, 3/4 sportbikes here are Gixxers. I like it too, but it has no bearing weight on my next bike, it could be almost any newer 600s, except Kawi.

You slammin my ride, beeotch? Just you wait and see... Remember who has more experience riding the twisties. ;) We can hash it out HERE (http://www.beaverun.com) when all is said and done. :grinyes:

Uh... Tangie, Tangie, Tangie.. your ride is a Seca, I just have to park my SV next your bike, and it wins by default. :D

Although I would say you have the upperhand in the twisties, since all the months you have in your belt and getting to hang out with DAD, plus all the curves up there... BUT... your bike spends more time in the garage for winter than mine. HAHAHA. Man I wish I could go to Beaver Run though, through Deal's Gap, it would be an awesome summer.

Anyway, I have nothing against Kawasaki, but their digital tach could be nuisance to keep checking while riding.

i've always been a gixer-boy. i just ride a honda for now although i need to experience a kawasaki. i've had Yam, Suzy, Honda so kawa is next i suppose.

i read an article today relating how each new litre bike compared directly to the new gixer and all test riders felt it had balls from bottom to top.

umm going by Z's reasoning of cafe parking status. i kick youse all. red is sooooo hot man.

hate to say but i even think tange would be a tough bet for me on the twisties. HP is all well and good if you can use it without concern.

There's a local sportbikes hangout here every Thursday night, it's usually packed with all the hottest toys. Never went, wouldn't go without an invitation. Funny thing is, I never see too many of them around when I am out riding during daytime. Most of the guys out doing saddle time are Harley/Choppers or Goldwings.

Yeah, Pennsylvania and up there has all the best curves, like being in Grand Canyon with cooler weather. I've been to Poconos, and all I can say is it'd be a good wetdream to ride outside of town during summer.

In straight roads in Florida, pathetically, it's all HP, even I'm getting bored of SV's acceleration :D. But few days ago I found a road with two nice bends, residential area marked with 35 mph, but I'm so dry, I'll take anything and speed through it. It's fun for those few moments.

I agree PA has some nice roads, but go west. I went through Rocky Mountain National Forest in Colorado. The roads (and the scenery) are amazing! Not quite as forgiving as PA roads (rocks hurt mmmm'k) but it is one turn after the next after the next. The scenery and the wildlife in the area are amazing as well. Worth the trip every time!

We went from Loveland into the Rocky Mountain National Park. The scenery and the twisties were amazing! They do rent bikes if out there, if you ever make it out that way you really should go hit some roads. An AWSOME time. (On a side note, altitude sickness SUCKS!)
