Hey, I have a 2000 Cavalier and I drove it about 1 - 2 hours in advance. Well when tried to start it again, it just kept turning over. It starts to shake more then usual and the engine starts to shake pretty bad.
Does anyone know what this problem could be?
I'm going to checker to buy spark plugs right now and see if that helps, otherwise, I have no clue.

Sounds more like it's not getting fuel...but I could be wrong. If it fails, check make sure you got a good fuel pump b/c yours might be taking its last breaths.

Well I just changed the spark plugs and it started.
Now, the problem is that when your driving the car is misfiring. I think gapping is the problem, but i'm not sure.
Any info would be helpful.

check the distributor cap...could be the problem if its misfiring...the little blade inside the cap might be worn out or bent and the misfiring might be the blade not making contact with the plugins on the cap.

that could also cause the engine to shake violently cuz when its trying to start if the first cylinder fires but the second doesnt the engine wont fire up ..i dont know if this is making any sense i dont really know how to explain this easy but if you have one piston trying to move and the others dont want to go anywhere...its gonna be a rough feeling...i had this problem with a mustang i had.
