Car Starting Problem

Finally found a place that might be able to help me. Been looking for somewhere to try and get some answers for sometime now.
Okay here is my problem. I have a 94 Pontiac Grand Prix SE, with a 3100 v6 and sometimes when I turn the key the car cranks and sometimes it doesn't. I've changed the starter, ignition control module(the box that is above the steering column. You have to take the steering wheel off to get to it), and battery. I am at a loss as to what to do. I've gone through my fuse panels at least a dozen times. When you turn the key it is like all power disappears. After a few tries though it will fire right up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Enfiniti, I also have a 94 Grand Prix SE with a 3100 v6 engine. I am having the same problem and have been told it is due to the battery cables. I will replace the battery cables on my car and let you know if that is the problem. It seems that a lot of these cars have that problem. Good luck on your search of the problem. Could you please let me know if you figure out what is wrong with it?

Also check your battery. When they start to fail, tehy will be able to deliver the low amp voltage for accessories, but not the high amp current to turn the starter. The grid inside the battery that connects the plates together gets weak and will break contact. Then as you let it set and cool down, or road vibration, will make contact again, and the battery will work fine for a while.

It turned out with my car it was the security sensor. I had began to notice that if I waited for the security light to turn off the car would crank. If it didn't turn off, then I would have to turn the key back and try it again. Got that replaced and everything seems fine. Just to note, I had already replaced my cables when I put on the new starter. Hope this helps.

Could you tell me where the security sensor is located? I've posted the same problem & have tried everything suggested, but I have not had any luck. Mine is a 94GP, 3.1 engine. Thanks.
