This tuesday I am buying a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST with 67,000 miles from my boss for $10,000. Its been pretty well taken care of, and all of the work done on it was done by him and his dad (his dad is a mechanic). It has an upgraded turbo and injectors. I'm just curious, are there any problems I should be expecting any time soon? Are DSM's well made cars? If its been well taken care of and as long as I take care of it, should I still expect any major problems? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to AF. And the world of DSM's. If you do your mantance they are very reliable. At 67k you should probly should get you timingbelt(and all that goes with it) changed. You should ask them and get the complete list of what they have done to it. Not knowing whats under their could be a problem. Also in your sig put your make, trim(gs-t) year and tranny.

I was going to wait to change my sig after I actually purchase the car, just in case. I have the loan and everything all set up, but something could happen between now and tuesday. I'll have him write down a list for me of all the upgrades he has done. I've driven it at least ten times, so as far as I can tell its in pretty good shape. Thanks for the welcome, and btw, is it expensive to have a timing belt (and all that goes with it) changed? My bmw's timing belt is actually a chain that (should) never need to be replaced, so I haven't had any experience with that yet.

Part wise I think it runs around 300ish. Search around their are lots of threads about it.

you might want to check with him before you go and buy parts, if he was very meticulous about keeping his car in tip-top shape, he probably already did the timing belt being as it was supposed to be done at 60,000. check with him though.

Yep, I asked him yesterday at work and he said he changed it at 55,000 miles :)
