I'm just wondering if there is a difference in the cams in a 1G and a 2G. I seem to remember reading that the 1G cams are an upgrade in a 2G car but I can't for the life of me remember where I read it. Maybe I just made it up. Any info?

There is an extra .01 in lift or something. Very small. But 1g manual cams are indeed an upgrade for the 2Gs. However small that upgrade may be. MY feeling on this is if you are building up a head for other reasons, and have 1g cams available, use them. But I wouldnt go through the trouble and risk of the cam swap just for the sake of the cam upgrade. Now, for some performance cams, it becomes worth the trouble. Hope that makes some sense.

Yes, it helps a lot. The head is getting checked over, decked, and a valve job right now. I also happen to have a set of cams out of a 90 5 spd GSX so I might as well throw them on while it's apart. thanks for the info.

Now that you mention it, the 90 cams are different from the 91-94s if I remmeber correctly. They should be no different than 90 AT cams, or 2g MT cams, but I dont have the actual specs. I dont know if they are any worse, or merely not any better. I would recomend researching this on tooners or a similar site. The nabr archives must have this info as well.
