97 buick skylark

Has anyone had problems with 97 buick skylark 6 cyl losing power while driving.It only lasts for about 1 mile then is ok for a few days.Its almost like someone is squeezing off the fuel till its fludders and then lets go.It has excessive lifter tick when its doing this. The tick dies out and then engine runs smooth again.
