WIP : Why not build 8 Le Mans winners at the same time?

Now that the 2005 Le Mans 24 Hrs are coming close, my interest is drawn to one of my building projects that need attention : modeling every post-war Le Mans winner in 1/43 scale, forming a complete collection in a showcase.

The picture shows my showcase and all the Le Mans winners form 1949 until 2004. I added the not-built kits to the completed kits to motivate myself to complete the ones still to be built. But building one model at a time is pretty demotivating since you don't really see the progress, so I decided to build 8 at a time. The ones with a red line around them are the ones I'm building. The first models are a little further in progress, the last one still has to be spraypainted. This method has one big advantage : I never have to wait to let somethig dry, I can always continue another model.

I keep you posted!

Crikes!!! I get confused with one model on the go at 1/24 scale, let alone 8 at 1/43 scale.

You're some guy, Guy!

I have no doubts all 8 will be stunning

What a phenominally cool project ! I wish I could do the same, but in 1/24...of course I would need to build an addition on to the house just to display them all :) Keep up the awesome work !

Really nice display and novel way to keep motivated (as long as you dont lose the parts for the unbuilt ones).

Well, things have been a bit slow because of the Roland Garros Tennis Tournament (in which the ladies' title went to my fellow Belgian Justine Hénin), but now I've picked up the pace again and so I decalled 2 more car bodies...

Since these are all le Mans WINNERS, you won't find any Toyota's or Nissans I'm afraid...

The 8 cars I'm building here are :

Mirage Ford (1975)
Porsche 936 (1976)
Porsche 936 (1977)
Porsche 956 (1982)
Jaguar XJR-9 (1988)
Sauber Mercedes C9 (1989)
Peugeot 905B Evo 1C (1993)
Dauer Porsche 962 GT (1994)

I finally finished the bodies (paint + decals). Some of the decals are still missing because they should be matt, so I will mount them after spraying the gloss coats...

They all look as sweet as candy but I especially like the Gulf-car. It's something with that livery that just appeals to me, no matter which car it's on.

Nice work! To me the picture of all of the finished cars represents why I mostly build 1:43rd. You cn put together a large colection of cars with out needing a vast amount of smace, and they just looks so nice sat together. Great build(s).
