i've been looking at this other 240sx for a long time to buy as my daily driver. He never wanted to sell but now he does. It has some damage to the front cause he rearended a truck or something. the hood is damaged, bumper is cracked and the core support is pushed back like an inch or two. The car comes with 17 inch enkei rims, brand new paint job before it was wrecked, exhaust system, pristine interior, Injen intake, sounds and brand new tires. it is an 1989 with 47,000 miles and one owner and no rust at all which is hard to find in Hawaii. The guy wants $2500. Do you think it's worth it.

I was just talking to the guy today and he said that since he hit that truck the car hasn't started ever since. Now i know the radiator is bad but that wouldn't prevent the engine from starting so what could be the problem? im gonna put my SR in it but do you think it is still worth it when its not running?

well if your switching to the sr i dont think there would be a problem. it sounds as if the ka is screwed or just has some problems from the accident.

dude.. go for it 47 K on it? new paint and rimz and intake.. good deal!
BUT!!!!

if the frame is bent, lower the $ dowm.. look for how much it will cost to fix.. u don't want 2 buy a car the cost 2500 and spend 4000 on fixing it!!!

I dont think the frame is bent cause he only hit the truck going like 20 mph. I know the bumper support is totalled. As for the KA i have to try and think whats wrong with it cause it is going in my other 240sx which will be sold when the swap is complete.

wait a minute there. Your buying a wrecked 240 to put an sr20 engine in. But you need parts to fix the one your buying. Sounds like one of your current 240's should become a parts car. Obviously you need them. A front bumper, hood and core support. Its not that hard of a fix if you have the tools. Core support would be the hardest part of the job. You could always use one car for parts (which is a good idea). O wait a minute for some reason i thought you said you would have 3 240's after you bought this one. Well shit balls never mind.

But i would still buy it. i thought 240's were hard to come by in hawaii? and for one with 47k miles thats a gem, even on the main land. I would buy it a fix it definantly. ANd with a 47k engine you should be able to get a good deal of money on the one you sell as long as the rest of the car isnt to beat up. Id say go for it, but its really up to what you can and cant do as far as the damage goes.

well the deal is i have a 89 240 now with an SR in it but it has been giving me some problems recently so im gonna order a new block and head for it cause thats what wrong with it. I am planning on buying this wrecked one and putting in the new and improved SR just because the car is so nice asides from the front end.

I will be putting the engine from the wrecked one in the one i have now and sell it to get my money back.

I know its a little confusing but it should work out to where i get a pretty nice 240.
sorry for the confusion

And yes 240s are very hard to come by in Hawaii especially on my island.

so then i would probably buy it regardless. If there that hard to come by, i would take the parts of the one your going to sell and put it on the other to fix it. And since there so hard to come by the demand for it would be huge (wrecked or not) plus it will have a low miles engine so its still a deal to someone. Or maybe a shop.

It sounds like a damn good deal, but for the record, a new paint job is not a good thing, unless you had seen the car before, because you have no idea what is hiding underneath.

what was hiding under neath was an original paint that needed some clearcoat but he decided to paint it all over and throw in some metal flake. Its kind of like a metallic grey and it was also done by this good shop i know about an hour away. They do really good quality work.

Have you see the car before? If yes, then read my previous statement, it doesn't apply to you, if you haven't seen it, then read my previous statement, you have no idea what's hiding underneath.

I'd check it out more before buying, 240 frame rails aren't really know for being sturdy.

47k? wow... it's hard enough looking for stock 240's on Oahu... isn't there a big police auction where you can get 240's on the big island?

i don't know before i came up here for school... i was asking a friend that moved from big island about that... he said the used car lots are pretty good up there... but nice find anyway. 240s that are on sell are damn hard to find...
