96 eclipse lagging

Sorry i dont know much about these cars. My friend has a 96 GST eclipst, auto, that lags everytime he floors it in first. What could be the problem, i mentioned it could be his MAFS but im not sure, any help would be needed...

it could be a number of things. does it stutter and shake before it takes off or is it just plain laggy? if it stutters, you'll probably need new plugs. it also might be a boost leak.
