Got a ticket for going 92 in a 55 zone today :(

Those damn popo's... I was runnin a bit late when I left for work today, and since I had to pick up my friend's mom, I was running even more late...
Anyways, long story short, I was hauling ass, going about 90 through the corners and 100+ on the straights, just trying to make up a little time, and just when I get to the last straightaway before the place where I work, I see what looks like a dark car parked behind a bush.
I thought to myself "thats a strange place to park...", then I got a bit closer and I go "oh, its a cop, great". I put on my brakes, hoping I could slow down before I went by (I thought they could only clock you from the front :P) My speedo stops at 85, so it took a second or two for it to start showing me slow down, and I decided to put the brakes on a little harder.
I put the brakes on real hard when I was like 15 feet from the rear of the cop car, and guess what... the tires lock up :P I skidded past the cop at like 75mph, and got ready to be pulled over. He flipped on his light and followed me while I looked for a place to pull over.
He took all my info, and told me to shut off the car. He came back after like 5 mins and gave me the ticket. He said "its for 92" I stupidly thought he meant like 92 dollars... not mph :P
I asked if he could give me a break, and before I could finish my sentance, he said "No chance, your lucky I'm not taking you to jail :() I asked to see the radar, and sure enough it said 92... The sad thing is, I have never seen a cop on that road before... why do they have to be there when I am hauling ass :(
I wonder what this will set me back, I'm going to try to go to traffic school...
Oh well, there goes next weeks check :P

Ouch! That’s quite a bit over the speed limit. Not sure what the costs are in the US, but over here it would be quite a bit. Hope it’s not as bad as you’re expecting. :(

Man that really sucks. They are always where you least expect them to be.

Yea, I heard its something like $11 per mile over the speed limit... not sure tho...
I'm sure it will be a nice chunk of change :(
They can't take my liscense for this can they? The only other thing on my record is one wreck (my first 280 zxt :p)

-Grendel Not sure how the law works over there, but you could certainly lose your licence over here for doing that sort of speed. :(
I hope it all works out well for you.

Aw crap man, tough break, I'm sorry to hear about all that. I wish you best of luck for minimal punishment. How about maybe looking at this event as "taking one for the team" (i.e. for us speeders)? Not that that will seriously make you feel any better.. :(

$238 sounds a lot better than the ammount my boss said it might be... He used to be a cop, and said the ticket could be around $600, depending on what the judge decides...
I really don't care how much it costs, I just don't want to hear another "speeding is bad" lecture from my parents :P
Ah well, I paid for my car, my insurance, and my gas... and I'm 18... they really can't do anything :)

Does anybody know if Indiana cops have to show you the radar if you ask? Because my friend asked to see it and the cop said my friend couldn't see the speed locked in.

Not sure about Indiana, but I've been told that if you ask to see the radar here in California, they have to show it to ya... *shrugs*
Don't you just love how the United States has a "United" set of laws
Every state should have the same laws...

I know the cops here in Ohio have to show you the lock in if you ask.
I agree, every state should have the same driving laws.
