I hope Ford builds the Shelby GR-1. Carroll Shelby rejoined Ford in the summer of 2003.
The Ford Shelby GR-1 reminds me of the Shelby Daytona Coupe. Only six Shelby Daytona Coupes were built.
Notice the air intake of both the Shelby Daytona Coupe and the Ford Shelby GR-1.
From the 1964 Goodwood Tourist Trophy. Phil Hill and Dan Gurney drove these race cars.

I think the GR-1 definately has potential as a production car. I mean, Ford could, at the very least, make it hanbuilt or limited run and only build them to order so they dont experience heavy overstock like the GT. I dunno much about the GR-1 that would influence price, but would $250K be unreasonable?

The Shelby GR-1 would use a lot of parts from the mid engine Ford GT if it were built. This would help with costs.
The GT doesn't have a heavy overstock.

But the GR-1 won’t be built unless Ford gets out of the financial hole they are in right now and finds a solution to the problems connected with the V10 or goes to a different engine. Either way it is very unlikely it will make it into production this decade if it ever makes it in to production.

All of that would be fun and it will never happen. I would love to have that out of a Ford but I am not going to want for years for an IRS in a Mustang that is if there ever will be one again. This 3-link is really a joke. Last time I rented a new Mustang I could feel the rear end sliding from side to side in curves and at speeds that my car could take easy. Instead of waiting I will step up to a car that is built for what I want something like say an M3.

That doesn't mean that it will be built. Shelby is whoring out his name more now than he did in the 80s with dodge. Remember the GLHS, Lancer, CSX, CSX-T, Dakota, and CSX-VNT? All carried his name all were crap and thankfully have been largely forgotten. Just because it has his name on it doesn't mean that it is any good or that he even had a hand in its production. Hell he really had nothing to do with new GT500 other than a short test drive and a few photos. Ford never signed an exclusive agreement with him for the use of his name on cars. That is why they are able to build the POS CS6 and Shelby-West Coast Customs GT.

Well word is (from www.blueovalnews.com) that the car hasn't been officially terminated. Nore has the Lightning for that matter. The Cobra moniker has been dropped from the SVT Mustang, for now the GT500 will carry the performance load for Ford, and if the GSR1 is made it will be named Cobra. SVT is to make two trucks one small or mid-sized (the Adreneline) and another to be ?. As well there may be a GT350 Mustang in the works, as well as a Bullitt, Mach 1, California Special, GT Hertz (possibly 350), and maybe even a Boss. An SVT Fusion which was to debut in 07' is questionable as to being an 08' model or being terminated. The one thing that saddens me is that Ford has seemed to have givin' up on Lincoln making the brand nothing more than their version of Acura and not even trying to compete with BMW, and Mercedes let alone Cadillac.

California Special - nothing more than a pony package for the GT http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=3988666#post3988666

Bullitt - on hold
Mach 1 - on hold
GT350 Mustang - no official word on this
Boss - no official word on this (Team Shinoda still has use of the name BOSS on the mustang)
Lightning - was canceled in late 2004

Blue oval news is largely propaganda. Yes there is some good info there but trust nothing on the forums about future cars and never listen to their hype. Just take a look at how they hype up the GT/CS
Would Ford bring back the Boss? Could they be contemplating another Mach 1? How about another Bullitt? Their wait is now over: While the competition scrambles once again to play catch-up to Ford, Mustang momentum continues to grow with the introduction of the uniquely styled, limited-edition 2007 Mustang GT/CS”
The GT/CS is nothing more than like I said a pony package for the GT. It just “snazzy stripes”, a hood, and bumper there is no performance to be found in this beyond what is in the base GT. When they stated “While the competition scrambles once again to play catch-up to Ford, Mustang” they evidently forgot about the Charger R/T Daytona. Ford is the one playing catch-up in calling it a “special edition” based only looks not added performance.

I don't think I claimed the CS/GT to be anything more than a package, and as for Lincoln competing with Cadillac I still don't see that happening anytime soon with the exception of big SUVs. Eveything else from Lincoln seems to be glorified Mazdas and Volvos, all FWD based platforms, with AWD options but still FWD based. I agree the Navi is butt ugly especially with that grill. As a metter of fact Lincoln in general is loosing the trademark "waterfall" grill on all it's models. When Jay Mays left it started a downward spiral.

Your point being?
The Shelby GT-H is going to be an auto only car and the GT500 is only going to be made with a TR6060 6-speed manual. Why don’t you go over to SVTperformance and ask how many people want an auto in the GT500. The numbers may surprise you.

And it was still put in an unimpressive front wheel drive car. So what is the BFD? The first Ford aluminum 4-valve mod motor was found in the in the 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII and without it you wouldn’t have the Ford GT engine of today. Does that make the 93 Mark VIII a great car or even one to be remembered decades from now? No not by a long shot.

well all i know is that ford needs to come up with something, right now they are about the only company that doesnt have a really high performance car in its lineup, that is after the GT is officially gone.

Yea and I agree however they don't need another $150K car that is what Aston Martin is for. What Ford needs is a decently priced sports car not a Mustang but a real 2 seat RWD sports car with good handling, brakes, and power without a band-aid. For those of you who didn’t think it was possible for the Ford MOD motor to make power with out a supercharger Koenigsegg did what you thought was impossible and got 806bhp with only 4.7L

The GT/CS is nothing more than like I said a pony package for the GT. It just “snazzy stripes”, a hood, and bumper there is no performance to be found in this beyond what is in the base GT."
Hm, perhaps that's what they meant by "the uniquely STYLED" but hey, that's just my take on it... ;-)

When you hear Boss, Mach 1, and to a lesser extent Bullitt you think performance not just looks. The GT/CS should NEVER be mentioned in context with those cars. Then this comment "While the competition scrambles once again to play catch-up to Ford" so what is this a looks competition now? If so Ford lost. The Charger Daytona looks much better even with 4 doors.
