Graduation is coming soon (class of 2005, woot)....so...i've been pondering what car i wanna get, lately i've been chasing corollas(*cough* i eat rice) for their nice gas mileage and reliability, reputation, etc etc...but something in the back of my head says i want a "street" racer type car also, thats where you guys come in, help me out fellas

Here's what im looking for
-im heading for college, looking for a reliable car
-drive to campus and housing is about 15 mins apart
-minimum low maintenance cost for at least 5 years
-good miles per gallon rating (around 25+ or somewhere close to the corolla perhaps)
-cheap and inexpensive car insurance rating
-preferably asian imports
-cars made in 1990-1998 (price issues)
-a car that is turbo boost-able without worries
-decent power
-perhaps not so heavy
-i'm a big fan of toyota
-a car that will simply drive to point A to point B
-at the same time, i want a reliable, dependable car that wont break down so easily, but a car that is speedy too, ya know? help me out

Well, a Supra fits all those qualities...kinda.

If you want a quick little car that wont set you to far back, and your a Toyota person, go Celica.

Well, your list looks all fine and good except for this point. It causes a dilemma. I suggest you look for a car that came stock with a turbo. Adding a turbo after the fact is just more time and money plus they just tend to be less reliable than a car that was engineered to be turbo-charged.

Now the other dilemma is that you want a used car. A used car with a turbo is going to be a reliability issue because there are a lot of people that don't understand how to take care of a turbo-charged engine. So, you'd be taking a chance with that route.

Anyhow, my suggestion would be to get a Scion tC. You like Toyota and its a Toyota. It would be a reliable car, good on fuel, and it is inexpensive.

In the end I suggest you just check out the “what car to buy FAQ” at the top of the page.
