Hey all,
Firstly i'm new to this forum, and look forward to sharing my knowledge and learning more and more every time.
Secondly, I'm a new car owner, and don't know all that much about specifics. I got a used 1998 Taurus SHO, and I was wondering what kind of fuel is the best to use. Under my gas guage it tells me to use Premium Unleaded, but thats's more expensive. Now my question is, will premium really help my enigine last longer, and give me better gas milage, or is it not a big difference to use premium over regular?

thanks

Dizz

If the manufacturer recommends premium, you generally should use premium. It will give you more power and possibly better gas mileage, but the main point is that in higher-compression engines, if you use low-octane gas then it will have a tendancy to preignite or detonate, which are terrible for your engine.
