I was thinking about this the other day. Does anyone know if any owners of SS's have removed the front drivetrain to make it a rear-wheel drive truck only, instead of AWD? I know quite a few Diablo and Muricielago owners have done it to their cars. Seems like it would be a worth-wild mod.

Greetings Texas,
Why mod when you can get it already done? I bought a new 2004 Silverado 1500 Extended Cab truck that is essentially identical to the SS except for four things:
I'm rwd with locking differential
I'm a couple hundred pounds lighter in vehicle weight
I have 3.73 rear axle instead of the SS's 4.10
I am currently getting about 21.5 MPG in highway driving
By the way - the truck handled great in our Wisconsin winter too. Snow and ice - no problems.
You'll find several threads here talking about my truck or ones similar to it. LQ9 engine, Z60 suspension, H.D. transmission.

True. I'm not interested in moding mine or getting anything new, I was just wondering if any of the owners have done it just for the sure hell of it. Thanks for your input though.

I personally think its awesome to burn all 4 tires through a couple gears.... Why would you want to do that mod to a Lambo???

Some people just plain hate awd. They love driving the cars and working at it a bit. Takes more skill to drive around a multi-turn track in a high performance car without having the rear end slide out and maintaining the entire car. Versus awd which makes it easier.
