hi i have a 96 explorer 4+4 with 4R55e auto trans. The trans was replaced at 30,ooo miles by ford dealer. now i have 62,ooo and had no problem until now i was driving and the check engine light came on and wasnt shifting out of first gear. so i pulled the code it was (po756 shift solenoid b ckt performance or stuck off). so i called dealer to find out how much solenoid cost and he advised me there were 4 solenoids and it would be better to replace all four of them so i replaced all 4 solenoids. I went on test drive but still wont shift out of first gear. I noticed if i get the rpm to 3000 and let off gas it will shift then all the other shifts are fine. but if i just drive normal it wont shift the rpms were at 4000 and still didnt shift until i let off gas. its just first to second shift thats the problem. i would appreciat any help. Thank You For Any Help In Advance

well just a quick update. I took it to dealer (what a waste) they told me same thing i allready know. but they said i had no second gear and needed a reman unit for $3,600 yea ok. well needless to say they didnt touch it and i brought it an hour and half ride to a very reputable tranny shop and worse case if i do need whole trans it will be $2,000. thats more like it ill let you know what the problem and result is when i know

Attention everyone

If anyone out there is having transmission problems dont take it to a ford dealership unless the have a transmission specialtist. ASK IF THEY HAVE ONE FIRST!!! I was having some problems with my transmission and they told me it was a solenoid and a gasket so they replaced those items and the pressure tested it and it failed. Come to find out the trans was shot. They told me to go with a reman instead of rebuilding it, since rebuilding could get costly. I went with the reman cause I was stuck with part of the bill on the parts and labor of the first time trying to fix it plus they knock off some $$$$ for the reman and labor. I talked to a friend of a friend that works in a transmittion shop and he told me that most dealerships will not rebuild trans because they dont have a specialist to do it, so they try to get you to buy the reman. So to make a long story short take you vehicle to a trans shop instead of a dealership.
