hey guys, u know how i got the 13kv.2 a lil while back.. and i said i would stop? well now i got to find another sub, here are the reasons

#1 i really need my trunk space now, a 12" won't cut it, and i dont think going from a 12" to a 10" makes any diff, so i am going to choose an 8" sub.or 6.5' subs
#2 now, i don't care much for volume, i dont want to be seen as one of those youngsters disturbing the peace, so an 8" or a pair of 6.5's will be alright, as long as it can fill in the low end, and sound good.

so anyways, i need to know a few things

1. what kind of bass should i be expecting fron a 8" running 175rms, in a small sealed box in the trunk of my accord?? or from two 6.5's mounted on the rear deck?

2. would it be possible to mount two 6.5" subs in the stock 6x9 locations (IB on my rear deck)

3. any 8" or 6.5" sub recommendations? i'll be running 175rms to the 8" or to the pair of 6.5's, im trying to keep it under $140

thx again guys, i didn't keep my end of the bargain before -_- but after this hopefully i'll be done :p

I have a 2001 accord, I glassed an 8" sub into each door with 125 watts RMS into each. I hit 127 dB at clipping. It has a suprisingly good sound.

Here's another option for you... Tang-Band sells a 6x9 subwoofer that will probably fit your stock locations in the rear deck.

I have no idea how they sound, but from the specs they can't be all that bad.

A couple of other options for 8" drivers are the Tang-Band W8-740C and the MCM 55-2421.

Both are pretty much identical in specs, but for 30 bones the MCM driver is pretty impressive. I can vouch for it as I have it installed in a horn-loaded enclosure right now.

I may use those RE8's or the Koda 8's as midbass in the other car

Koda's would be a better choice ;). RE8's are dedicated subwoofers, wouldn't take them any higher than 125hz...and even then...that's at MOST. ;)

I have a friend who might be interested... depends how cheaply you want to let it go for. Shippings gonna be a pain (We're in CT, you're in CA). What are the specs on the 13kv.2? I can't remember what brand it is either. A link to the product page would be cool.

Thanks

I saw a page of a guy that made a dual ported box (it was about 7 high x 15 deep x 25 long) for a pair of 6.5" tang-bands. It was pretty amazing how much low-end output they had. Probably as much as a sealed 15". That box would still be too big for you though, from what you've said. Another idea would be to glass some enclosures in the little wells directly behind the tail lights. Kinda where the sub is in the picture below, only higher.

I know I never use that space, so it's a logical place to put a sub. It's definately large enough for a sealed and maybe even a ported enclosure for an 8".

hmm i might glass, i think i have enough to make a small enclosure behind the tail lights

and i think its ok, im going to try to sell it for as much as possible, because i've been losing alot of $ to car audio heh
