auto no drive in D normal from 2nd

anybody know why my 91 eg civic 1500 will only take off in 2nd if you select D it is like the car is in N or P.once up and driving shifts normaly up and down gears once you stop you have to select 2nd.

you don't have an eg...u have an ED3

my guess is that ur tranny fliud is low or your tranny is going out...only 2 reasons i can think of at the moment

Yeah my car is RHD and is made in new zealand,same as a jap one,fluid is good level is good have been told it is a simple fix dont even need to take trans out,just end cover off and should be something in there but i dont know what that something is.

well i'm not good with auto trannies...so mabey someone can help u out better than me

I had the same problem in my auto 90 dx

2nd for a rigged first gear
D3 be careful if you are going under 20mph
D4 same^

its a rigged way to drive your car but you can get by on it for a while

when i needed to replace the tranny i just went
auto 2 manual

it was alot of work but its worth it

you tranny cable might be bad, this happened in my civic once.
