98 k1500

have a 98 k1500 5700vortec, auto tranny. bought new, been a terrible pooch from day one. dealer said its all ok. my 94 would walk all over it. have 80000 miles. only repairs have been one injector, and intake gaskets. any one know of any ways to get some power out of it. can i eliminate the cat. coverters.( had several older vehicles that they gave problems on). I dont want to go extremly nuts. Ive been told im lucky to make it to 80000 miles with original fuel pump. should i replace it? thanks

Check my mods posted 6-10-05 titled "new user, many questions, need help" what i have done has significantly improved performance, all you would need to do is add an exhaust system and you would be set.
