cool,
in sydney here silvias are getting more common than wrxs
a car gets an award and every one wants one, i saw this lady driving a red one.
everyone is buying s15s aswell, its usually the p platers and people under 25 buying silvia Qs, and everyone else buying s14s or s15s, today this s15 with chromys came down my street letting off the blow off valve 3 times then gave it abit of a hit and it went pretty fast and he wasnt even revving it much.
i will give you an idea on how popular imports are here,
down my street this guy owns a r33 gts
theres 2 r34s around in my area, an r34 gt-r vspec in a performace shop in the next subburb, down in the commercial area wich is full of rice theres 1 civic with a type r badge, 3 s15s, and 2 rsx type rs
atleast 5 skylines pass my house every day
1 in every 5 cars has either a system or exhust, ah fuck its something NOT to have a system or chromys or mods these days, stockers are getting attention just cause there stock.
i was leaving my house the other day in the morning and a 180sx pulls up beside me and the guy asks if im leaving, i say yea, he takes my parking spot, when i came back to park in my driveway i checked out his car and it was auto :bloated: (i live next to a uni, and theres no parking spots anywhere during the week), as for s14s, there more popular here than any of the cars mentioned with the exception of the skyline gts.
but im sure in usa there rare, here cars like transam and corvettes are heaps rare, i have only seen one transam wich was afew months ago. and rarely do i see american muscle cars, im alot more likely to see a brand new ferrari or lambourghini.

well its totally stock right now but with low miles. almost 45000 soooo i think i should be able to pull off a low 16 second quater mile. but i know the S14 is not made for that. but until i get money, i'm goin to save up and get as much as i can at once. cuase now i'm in debt. doh. i'll try to have pics up by next week cuase the car is still with the owner until wednesday. and even after that i need to register it to connecticutt because insurance is cheaper there. like 600 a year cheap with a joint account from my parents. soooo basically i won't be drivin it until friday night. can't wait! its a nice pearl white 95 model with a cd player. (saves me money for now so i can actualy listen to some music) the stock tires on it are crap. when me and my friends were test drivin it hard. whenver we downshifted, the car wanted to drift itself instead of shootin straight forward. and we wouldn't pull off a burn out. i think the traction control keeps on interfering. and it has a ding on the left front fender. besides that its almost mint.

Can't you shut the traction control down?

what color? is it the SE model with LSD? if not then that would be one of my first upgrades! Eitherway it is coooooooo! Takumi!

hmmmmmmm its a pearl white one. and i dont' think you can turn off the traction on this car. i tried lookin for the switch. but i'm goni to try lookin for it again. and i don't think it comes with a LSD. the S14 in america is such a runt compared to the japanese. even my friends integra GS can beat it in a drag. dunno why. he has less power, and he has more crap in his car. is this what he keeps on tellin me by "its not always about horsepower" ? can there be any other logical explaination for this?

and rice rocket, its takeshi the black lightning. i'm not cool enough to be takumi the super technician. heh if i really wanted i could've been kenta cause we got the same car. but damn i really tried to like him!! but hes just tooo damn annoying and you just wnat to jump in the tv and kick his ass.

perhaps your friend beats you due to driving superiority?

he drove the car too and he said it feels more slugish then his car. could it be the tires? i dunno cause i didn't hear no wheel spin. hmmmmmmm

Its not all about horsepower. The power that everyone always talks about is PEAK hp. What really matters is the hp curve and how much area there is under it. If you have a car that has a ton of area under the hp and torqe it will be faster than a car with a higher peak output but less area under the curves.

See this dyno plot of my freinds 300ZX TT, a ton of area under both the hp and torqe curves (ignore the red line, the dyno didnt record it right for some reason)
Hope this helps, just wanted to show that peak numbers dont always matter!!
TatII: keep in mind too, you have a 240 not a silvia yet, you are driving around with a truck engine under your hood.

i know i know, but i would expect it to have more torque then his b18c since its a larger engine and it is a truck engine you know? wouldn't a larger engine naturally have more torque? and his car has twice as much miles as mine.

Yea higher displacment = more torque in most cases. The thing abut the KA is that like I said its a truck engine, to my knowledge they didnt change anything, they just ploped in in the engine bay. This includes the cams, and that is what makes your 240 feel so sluggish, is your cams. In Sport Compact car a few years ago, they did an article on their project 240. When they put JWT cams in it, they said that it felt like a car should feel, it actually LIKED to rev to redline, and didnt run out of breath. If I were you, i would call up Jim Wolf Technologies and ask they about their KA cams, it is a cheap way to make your car feel hella better, and I would put money on you beating that GS, like a lot of money!! Add an intake, and an exhaust and you will have a really strong little KA!
If you would like I can find that article, copy it at work and send it to you, just e-mail or p.m. me your address. Good Luck!

i've read and saw some dynos on those cams. and they actually lower peak torque and hp without any mods. but if you add a new intake and a exhuast. it will boost the hp gain on those mods. but since i'm still tryin to get use to the car. i'm not goin to do anything with it yet.

Traction control?
I don't think S14's have traction control.

yeah i just realized that last night when i was fuckin around with it. and if i had traction control today my car wouldn't have drifted it self in the in the rain today. it was pretty fun. but it was toooo damn risky. thank god there was no cars around cuase i took that 90 degree turn at a intersection by accident. heh it was pretty fun to take slide the tail around.
