Jeep Performance parts

So I'm probably stupid to even want to spend extra dough on performance parts for a 4 cyl 2.5, but my 95 wrangler is like my hot rod, so why not treat it right.

I want to set up a performance ignition for a hopefully better idle, and I need some ideas. Nobody makes real good aftermarket stuff for the wimpy (yet bulletproof when need-be) 4 cylinder.

MSD and Accel make universal wire kits that I can cut to size, though I'd like to go with an ignition coil and distributor cap/rotor too. I can find all kinds of universal coils to choose from, but I wouldn't mind suggestions.. and I'm having the toughest time finding an aftermarket cap and rotor for it. Apparently nobody wants to supe up a 4 cylinder unless it's fast and furious. On that note, anybody know if the Neon has the same distributor by any chance? I may be able to find a performance one marketed for that.

Thanks-

performance distributors makes an ignition kit for the 2.5L for about $190. It comes with plug wires, coil, cap and rotor

what will a performance cap and rotor do for you? will it gain HP? Can you get one the you can program stuff into, like where it idles at?

Well, I personally don't expect to gain any HP out of a performance cap and rotor. Not to say it can't be done, anything really can be done with the right parts and enough money. For my application, (the 4-cyl), I'm hoping for a cleaner idle at most. A hotter spark (with a better coil), less resistance in the wires, etc, can hopefully achieve that.

Cap and rotor, there really isn't any idle "programming" or adjusting, it's just a matter of it running more solid. Now some distributors (like the performance distributors link someone added to this thread), I don't believe they're programmable, but I though I remembered seeing some form of adjustment built in to them.

and that is 3 just off the top of my head.

That is the nice thing about Jeeps. There are more aftermarket parts out there than you would ever need.
