Hi everyone! I'm totally new to this site so bare with me. I bought a 97 sunfire that had jumped it's timing. The valves were also smacked upand the computer under the right fender was also missing.I replaced the head and timing gears and picked up a computer from the local auto wreckers. Everything is fine as far as the timing goes and compression but the engine does not get fuel through the injectors. I have good feul pressure coming to the rail but it goes no further. If I inject fuel into the throttle body it fires right up but then dies once that fuel is spent. Do these computers need to be reprogramed for the injectors and fuel system to work? Thankyou.

No the computer does not have to be reprogramed to work. It has a chip in it that does not require reprograming. Are you sure the computer you purchased is good? Are you sure it is for the same model car that has the same engine? These are all factors that can affect the starting of the car. You may also want to check to see if you are getting signal to the injectors, if not then the computer is the problem. If you are getting signal then the injectors may be damaged and need to be replaced. Good Luck1
