99 Burb

Hey Guys

I have a 99 Burb 4X4, 56000 miles and what seems to me as a rough idle or a miss. No SES light and I have changed:

Cap & Rotor
Plugs
Fuel Filter
Air Filter

and ran some injector cleaner through it.

It seems to only happen at stop lights or when parked at idle. Doesn't hessitate or stall when you step on it. Also when comming off the interstate or from driving for a while without stopping it will not do it for 30 - 35 seconds after stopping. :eek7:

Another concern is at speed when going down the interstate. First noticed it last month, when I hit about 75 it seems to have a viberation or a slight rumble. Once I get to about 78 it goes away and everything is fine. Any Ideas?

Thanks

Bump - I'm all ears on the vibration between 65-75. Mine is fairly in consistent but definately annoying. 51000 miles and everything is good as far as u-joints etc.

Anyone?

try having tires ballanced runble my be tires if you feel it in the wheel and only at certain speeds, could also be a cv joint but i'ld try tires first.

Tires good, did that.
Running Michelins with the normal dealer aftermarket wheels.
CV's? I'll look into it...

Thanks!

when was the last time they were ballanced? you can throw a weight just hitting a pot hole and it will act like your taking about. michelins are good but they still need to be ballanced i threw a weight on a set of dunlops the day after they got put on, on my fiero and it did the same thing your talking about.

I am not sure this will help, but I have a 1996 2 door Tahoe with 175,000 miles. Mine has a vibration in it that starts at 65 MPH and will stop when going above 73 MPH. After lots of checking it seams to be torque converter shutter. If you fix it please leave a post as to what it was. Thanks Dave

The rough idle is a by product of have to get the emission down, everywhere I checked came up with the same reuslts, the only way to help it is with an aftermarket mass air flow sensor or put a resistor in it to trick it into thinking it's getting cooler more dense air, I have seen resistors for as little as $10.00, and mass air flow sensors for as high as 300.00, I agree it's annoying but I'm not willing take the chance the cheap resistor and too cheap to spend the 300.00 bucks, hope it helps.

Thanks for the info Scott. It is really annoying but I agree not worth the money. Just makes me nervous, i had a 99 Silverado that had clogged injectors 3 time within a 3 month period. Once 3 days after the dealer cleaned them. As long as a few of you also have this rough idle on the burbs then that helps quiet the voice in my head.

Thanks for the reply

I had a 96 tahoe with the same issue, the plug wires were shorting out on the header on the passenger side.
