Does a model change, effect value of older

I am considering buying a new (2005) Denali because my 99 tahoe is on its last leg (187K) and cant wait for the new model to come out in the spring of '06. Does anyone have information or a link discussing how a new model change effects the value of a car. Im sure it cant be good but such a good price on the gmc suv's right now it is hard to pass up. example how the '04 mustang value got hit after the new style came out. Or any advice of who i could talk to about it, the dealer wasnt very helpful.

when new body styles come out, the older style is usually valued less.

This is almost always true except for when companys go from a very good style, to something less appealing.

you could get an older used Tahoe if you need to get something now to tide you over until the 06 are out.
This will not lose that much money as it ages another year.
You always lose money on a car: the newer, the more.
My 2001 Yukon XL K2500 SLE has pretty steadily lost $350 per month over the last year.
If I had the money to get a new Yukon XL Denali then I would get the 05, wait for the 06 to turn into the 07 to get the bugs worked out and then decide on a trade-in.

never ever buy a new model the first year of a change, unless its just a minor change grill headlight and small things like that, they need at least a year on a major model change to get things right at the factory. i know i spent 15 year working at cpc framingham. chev olds plant. wait and see whats going on with it, if its a major change buy the secound year, if its minor you should be safe. as far as devalueing you ould truck i wouldnt worry to much, sell it outright, do not trade in you never get shit for them on a trade.
