I see Curtis the auto genius in here alot helping people out with their car troubles.
Curt, I'm just curious as to what kind of job you hold in the field, how long you've been working in the field, and how you got your education.

At the risk of sheer honesty, the answers to your questions go like this:
-I hold no job in the field (currently) however plans are slowly in the works to open a custom shop with a few car crafter friends of mine.
-I have been working in the field since (literally) I could hold a wrench. My first oil change was when I was 5, and I had no help. Of course, I didn't say it went well :)
-My education is just from complete immersion. I graduated with a BA in fine arts, but my true passion is everything autos. I hate using the term self-taught since that makes it sound like it was all completed from my own brain and a book. I relied (and still rely) on the incredible minds, many of whom are right here, who possess far more knowledge than I could ever imagine. Saying "self-taught" is such a selfish phrase for what is a very collaborative effort.
I did hold a job in corporate sales for GM, Volvo, Honda, and Ford from time to time. It afforded me a rare look into the corporate automotive world, but that's about as far as my "formal" car education goes.
So, I guess I have no credibility whatsoever, just a lover of the automobile and everything about it.
I guess the more important question is; why do you ask? :D

That's kool. You're just one of the more intelligent car people on this board and have a pretty good technical knowledge for being "self-taught" and having no truly formal education.
Anyway, I only ask because....I was curious!
