b20b problems!!

This saturday i went to the street races and my car started acting wierd.. im going to describe what happened to see if anyone can help me... when i went to take off at the beginning of the race everything went well.. i hit second gear and everything went fine, then i shifted to third, when i stepped on the on the accelerator.. the car ran ok then like a second later the car ran with a loss of power and a loud noise like if the exhaust had broken or sumthing...i drove it like 3 miles till i got home.. when i got home i started it again and it did the same thing... i checked the the exhaust and the engine itself with out removing anything and nothing seems broken or anything.... what could of gone wrong??? any help is greatly appreciated!!! thanks!!

i checked the timing and the timing was off a little, but i still thought something else happened.. so i went to take off the spark plugs and the second spark plug (counting from left to right) was broken.. so i went to take off the valve cover to see what else happened. the valve retainer "i think thats what it is called" closest to the dizzy was broken..... i alredy took off the intake maifold and the cams...all i have to do is take the head off and see if the pistons are ok..

damn that sucks bro, hopefully it isn't messed up.
