I remeber sombody sig around here saying they were a insurance agent or had somthing to do with a insurance company. Well as some of u know my insurance dropped the bomb by telling me my insurance would be 3000$ every 6mothes. i currently could not afforoad that and the car loan for the car. So i goto thinking i remeber hearing ppl insurance some import cars as grey market vechicles or insurancing them for the value of the car rather then what the car was. Does nebody know exactly how this works? Is it only liability or can u get full coverage also? Thanks

Dreamspawn, check out the FAQ, I got a quote of $2500 every six months, and have gotten that down to about $1300 every six months.

i did read the faq and that was with out the health insurance thingy and the orginaly iddn't have a anti theft on there either. Didn't ask bout a defenseive drivin course and talk to the bank bout the dectable that was with it at 500. My deal is trying to juggle the car payment and insurance payment with a job not a career. Seeing as i havn't started college yet. Undecided between Computer major or Car mechnaic. I'm leaning more towards a PC one right now.

1) Take defensive driving...that lowers it 10% in many states
2) Pay in 6 month increments...not every month, call your insurance company and ask if they have a reward for doing this...mine rewarded me -$100 every 6 months (they didn't give me this discount until I asked them about it)
3) I got my VIN etched on all the windows, local PD departments sometimes do this for free, otherwise you can get a kit online for $15-20. This lowered it another 3-5%
4) I raised my deductible to $1,000 from 500 (you gotta talk to insurance company, not the bank)
5) Ask if they have a good student discount...and get a good report card/gpa and show it to them
6) Ask if they have discounts for aftermarket alarms
7) Once you turn 18, 21, 23, etc they lower it a bit everytime if you don't get tickets
8) Get married...haha, jk, but not, it really does lower your insurance.
I'm sure I have a few other discounts, those are only the ones I could think of off the top of my head...but literally, they orignally quoted me $5,000 a year, and then it dropped quite quickly.
