i am so freaking happy right now! i found a 1993 camaro z28 for sale in the paper about a week ago. and i ended up paying $2200 for it today. it was advertised wrong and i found out via carfax that the vin# says its a '94, so ill guess thats the correct year. so hooray its got MAF and not speed density like originally thought! :grinyes: it is an A4 and bone stock. only problems are the power door locks are picky as to when they work so i gotta use SO MUCH effort to reach over and do it manually(ha). also the driver side seat is slightly ripped, but ill just buy some bow-tie emblem walmart covers. lol. the paint is slightly faded on the passenger door under the window but its still a camaro and i love it  the only real bad thing is it has 191,XXX miles, but it has never missed an oil change and has no leaks whatsoever. i plan on keeping it nearly stock, if anything just exhaust and intake. and computer tune of course. i'd like firmer shifts lol. i have a day off work tomorrow, so after church i reckon ill be testing out my mr clean autodry to get it squeeky clean and armorall the interior and go over everything to get it clean as possible. the driver side power seat is awesome, its like a dentist chair. my mom and dad are pissed, neither of their cars(2002 voyager and i think 1995 f-150 6-cyl respectively) have power anything, cd player, or go vroom vroom without sounding stupid.
cliffnotes:
-i got a 94 Z28 for $2200 with high miles being the only negative, yet no leaks or anything
-parents are jealous of it
-im now a chevy fan for life
its going to be torture waiting 'til the 31st to get my liscense! :banghead:

thanks for the replies! i think that your first real performance car has a big effect on if you are a ford or chevy fan. today i just got some walmart seat covers(lol, but hey im happy with them) and washed it/cleaned it out from like 4:00 to i think 7:00 or 7:30. 8:30 if you count me walking outside to put another coat of tire shine :grinno: i want to get it registered soon so i can drive it. it has about 1/8 of a tank of gas left, today when i had the cd player on, i didnt realize that the ac was as well... running the gas down. :disappoin ah well. i have a camaro! life is good! :icon16:
bag91 - the autodry stuff worked great! my only problem i encountered was that it takes a little while to dry(i'd say 20-25 minutes?) and because of that a couple stupid bugs and real small flower petals blew and stuck to my door :swear: wasn't a big problem, i just CAREFULLY grabbed them with my fingernails before it dried completely. no evidence of them. i'd recommend you try it at least once. make sure when you go to use the mitt, put soapy water on the mitt as well as the car. it gives that as a hint in the manual, it does help.

Wal*Mart seat covers arent really to be made fun of, they're just seat covers and basicly all seat covers are the same, I got my seat covers for my Monte Carlo there, not that it needed it but it says Chevrolet on the upper part of the seat so hey, had to buy it. :D

I myself just bought a 94 Camaro. It isnt my first car sadly. My first car was a free 98 Ford Escort...i needed a car and it got me from A to B and some times to C. Then last week I hit a deer, or it hit me..i say it hit me since it jumped in front of me....either way it was a blessing in disguise. I've always been a GM man, especially Chevy. Though my camaro isnt a Z28, im excited like no other. Never would have dreamed i could get a camaro for $1500.

Yes, 1500. on Autotrader it said 2500, then i emailed the guy and he said 1,700. Then my dad and a friend go to look at it yesterday and my dad says 1500 and u got a deal and he said sure. As i said its a 94 V6 manual. It has 122,000 + miles on it. The interior is spotless, the guy was like "im sorry it was dirty" and my dad, my friend and I all laughed. No outside damage to the outside. Engine compartment is spotless. Just replaced the alternator like last year, new head lights. We have to get the back breaks fixed..not a biggy. I think its already wired for subs which is nice cuz i have two twelves from my old car to put in. Its not power locks or windows...but i honestly dont care. The paint is really nice as well besides cracking at the front which i figured isnt a big deal since it sits low and is going to scratch everynow and then. He is also driving it to my house tomorrow which is sick since he lives like 45 min away. Im siked

Nice first car! My first was the 69 in my sig...Think it's hard to wait that long? I had my car when i turned 13 and wasn't able to drive it much until i turned 16! Sounds like you got a good deal on it. Take it easy on it and DONT mod it much if any. The LT1 is pretty expensive to rebuild (especially when you get to doing performance stuff). I want custom plates for my car but i cant think of what to get.

Ah and funny side story. A guy following me asked me how many gears it had because i kept shifting (went into 6th) and i said "12 gears." He has a puzzled look on his face, then i had to explain that i had picked up a T56 for my friend and it was in the trunk....My 69 has the most gears in town!!!!!

yesterday i was driving to work with my mom(she wants me to get used to it, so i drive to/from work, and she takes it home while im there) and at an intersection i had a green light to go straight and some ass cut me off(it was a + intersection, me going ^ way and he went from V to >, so i had the right of way) so i had to slam the brakes on in the intersection, but some crazy soccer mom in a big honking SUV was maybe 30 or so feet behind me and haulin ass towards me. i didnt want rear-ended so as soon as the guy that cut me off was out of the way(while me honking at him) i floored it and left my signature all the way across the intersection  not the most exciting story, but i believe a first peelout is worth posting haha. my mom shit a brick but said she would have done the same thing probably. i got some goodies to wash and wax my car tomorrow  i've had my car a week and it's been washed i think 3 times already. i <3 my car

I think dusters scratch your paint...
they drag dust along the surface.
Does yours scratch?
And as long as you keep it waxed every 3 months and wash it every two weeks it shouldnt dull the paint. I dont remember how often he washes it but anyway.....

well my paint isnt in the GREATEST condition so i doubt over-washing will do much. i've got to wash it again though, today i visited my first place i worked at(hunt club dog kennel), there are dirt roads... ugh. i went about 5-7mph the whole way lol, still some dust mostly on the back end. i've been driving alone since yesterday(WOOOO license!!) and i love it. i took it to a somewhat secluded 4 lane divided road(2 each way) and floored it from about 15mph, omg it was sweet. i could still make out the small "chirp" when it shifted into second over the sounds of iron maiden blasting from my speakers :iceslolan i took it up to the speed limit(45, maybe a little over :naughty: and let off.
also, yesterday i drove to sonic to get breakfast at like 11:00am and the roads were mostly dead, at a redlight some fool in a newer looking malibu(badged as a GT-R, so it was safe to assume hes mentally ill) revved on me. i nodded and when it turned green i eased on the throttle just enough to keep ahead of him til i was out of first gear then floored it til i reached about 40(speed limit was 35) and shut it down. i suppose this was my first "pwning," too bad its against a fellow chevy.

well my $1500 dream car wasnt all it was cracked up to be. we took it to our mechanic, who is a friend of the family, he was lookig it over for inspection and then it all ended. Apparently, my radiator had a leak, the previous owner put some sort of liquid into it to help stop the leak. The engine also appeared to be leaking oil, so he put the same stuff in the engine. well as you can guess thats not good. The mechanic, and my dad even saw it when he went there today, looked under the radiator cap and instead of a nice smooth liquid, it was a brown gunk. Who knows what kind of damage it did to the car. On top of that, it needs new brakes front and rear, and a new pinion. My dad and my mechanic say its not even worth keeping and fixing up, specially since i dont have the money to do so. Im pretty damn pissed.

Its just this duratec (sp?) radiator fixer thing was leaking from the engine and my mechanic figured the engine isnt gonna last. Now i think, if its made to be put in a part of a car that goes through the engine, what damage can it do? so we are looking further into it and im thinking ill be driving it by next week. pray for me lol
