Headlight Adjustment on ’95 Jimmy

I see this question was asked a couple times, but no answers. However, I’m sure someone has been there, done that.

Where do you get the vertical (up and down) adjustment on the ’95 Jimmy headlights? (I think it might be the same for ’96 & 97, but after ’97 I believe it’s different)

My 1995-2001 Hanes has a diagram (13.1b) in chapter 12-7 on headlight adjusting screws, (which is what I have) but their info doesn’t seem to be correct or else I’ve done something wrong or broke something. The diagram shows 2-vertical adjusting screws for each headlight located in the radiator cowl, which stick up about 1-inch and have a little rubber cap on them. The diagram also shows two horizontal adjusting screws (torx head) on each side of the headlight assembly, which are recessed and are part of the headlight assembly.

When I replace my headlight bulbs I take the 2 long rods out, that Hanes are listing as vertical adjusting screws, and it lets me remove the whole headlight assembly. I don’t notice any vertical movement of the headlight when I’m removing these rods. Are these rods also the vertical adjustment and I’ve broken something - should I not tighten them up all the way when I put them back, or what? I’m the original owner, so nothing has been modified.

Any suggestions will be helpful.
