New Transmission!

I found this website that builds transmissions brand new...and supposed to be better than OEM parts. They quoted me a price of about $1,100 for a brand new transmission, and that price also includes shipping to my state! I wondered if that sounded like a good deal? I'm sure it's cheaper than what Hyundai would charge me.

The price could be right, but they are selling you a previously USED transmission for that price. They are a Remanufacturer, which means they take a used tranny fix a few parts(maybe) and then sell it to you. Plus if they are throwing stronger, better parts at it, I doubt that they are selling them for $1100.

But I wonder since it says that they will custom build a tranny...maybe you could ask for all new parts? I take it you've had experience at something like this...would you be able to give me a more reputable place to get a transmission from?

yeah that place doesnt do a bad job refurbishing the tranny, but your going to want to got with something new and dont go with hyundai either, they arent that great, and they are overpriced for what they offer.

Ok....so where can I get a new non refurbished tranny for a good price then?

nisco... what would you suggest also? Another thing I just thought of...since I'm having so many problems with my synchro's...does the new tranny or refurbished/rebuilt tranny...will that rid the "grinding" of my synchro's or is that a whole new thing all together that will have to be worked on seperately?

ok i dont have a clue as to where to find a non used transmission, but as for the grinding of your "synchros" it may or may not stop it completely... your best bet is to just get a brand new tranny and it should stop.

curbie... im sure you can get a used transmission in pretty decent shape for pretty cheap...

Thanks guys - nisco...I will look myself, but if you have an online shop that I could get a decent price on a tranny? Something you'd suggest or recommend perhaps?
