one garage said that i should have my pads done because they were half worn.... before they damage the roters..

the other guy daid that if i replace just the pads that i would get squeeking... that i should just wear them down and replace the roters and pads when the roters start to grind because new pads would warpa nd squeek..
what is the deal..,.

You don't want to wait until the pads are down to the metal, but if 1/2 is left then there should be some use left in them. Always have the rotors machined (if their not worn too thin) or replaced when the pads are replaced.

yeah, it they're half way gone, then you can still use them for a while. but you don't want to wait till the wear indicators hit the rotor. because then you'll have to buy a new rotor and brake pads. most of the time you can replace the brake pads and machine the rotor, saves you the cost of a rotor.
