Can you recommend things to look at with a car with 150K miles on it. I looked at the codes and only thing that comes back is oxygen sensor and will replace. Is cleaning the EGR system necessary for the jeep does it get all carboned up? Still looking at my shifting problem and the speed sensors. anything else I should be checking on a 95 grand cherokee I6 with 150K miles? Is there more then one speed sensor on the 95 transmission? I bought the speed sensor from the dealership but is there also an output speed sensor located inside the transmission?

Doesn't anyone have any suggestions? I am a girl with my car away at college and I would like to get mom and dad to pay to fix any problems so I have a reliable car. :) Thanks

I would suggest oil change, transmission flush, serpintine belt, tune up, brake fluid flush, check all brakes, shocks (and do not forget the one on the front stabalizer bar), Jeeps with this mileage need regular check ups.

Well I have done all that except check the shocks, thanks. Is there something I should do with rear differential?

When I got my 95 JGC, it had 165k miles on it. I had ALL fluids changed, even the diffrentials. I don't like "not" knowing when the prior owners changed these. The diffrentials were easy to change. I believe there is a drain plug and a fill plug. LUCAS gear oil was put in it with the appropriate fluids. I don't remember what kind it was though. Its just nice to know there is fresh fluids, especially in the "expensive" parts of the jeep.

Suggest you look at the hoses for fluids, top and bottom radiator as well as upper and lower heater hoses (near valve cover gasket).
Look at gaskets. Oil pan, trans pan & valve cover - look for leaks or dripping fluids.
If you have selectomatic trans, you may want to replace plastic bushings in shift lever joints (2).

Well, as long as the folks are paying, take it to a Jeep dealership.
They'll find everything that's wrong with it and a few things that aren't. ;)

Do not get the transmission flushed,It is a big no,no!During a transmission flush, dirt gets stuck inside the valve body and vlaves inside stick causing shifting problems. My father knows a guy that runs his own transmission shop and he does clean out valve bodies because the transmission was flushed.Just get the transmission fluid and filter changed, the best thing you can do to an automatic transmission.Have a lof done also if the oil has not been changed, check the belt for cracks,a tune up(spark plugs, wires cap, rotor and fuel filter).Check for oil and coolant leaks
