ever scared to race someone

for that matter everone in this dang country :P I am in japan, misawa, and hell it is a farming comunity and I am still scared to race these guys, up heh if it is a japenese national and he has exhaust, you can bet that he has at least 260 - 300 hp if not a hell of a lot more, on any car they got, I got a mr2 turbo with intake, hks super drager exhaust. and I am scared to race any dang civic here for god's sake :P.

well to the point, any one live somewhere where it is the same way ?

Yes my car is slow! I should have bought a gsx. I don't race because i KNow my car is slow. Yet because I have an eclipse, people still do the ricer fly-by wanting me to race. Im not scared to. I can take losses...but whats the point of me racing if I know my car is slow? :screwy:

Back in my hometown everything else is slow. The only other things I have raced that beat me are my friends 98z28, and my other friends 94 cobra

i just think its natural. your adrenaline gets pumpin and you dont want to lose but your also afraid of getting caught. i get scared everytime cause my car is so damn fast.

well even in japan, theres not alot of fast hondas. hondas are pure econo boxes there. the only cars to fear are the turbo nissan, mitsu's, subaru's and toyotas.

to even be decently competitive in the street racing scene here you have to be running 12s/11s. Any slower than 12s and you're gonna get walked all day.

I have never been, nor will I ever will be, scared to race anything. ESPECIALLY another street driven car. You lose a race.. so what, there is ALWAYS someone faster.

I find the majority of the time before we start I know whether im gonna win or lose, the wins im not afraid, the losses I know the other car is sick and its fun just to race so im also not afraid....

hehe to explainn more, not really scared per say, just know that every dang car here that is a racer be it honda or nissan skyline, is dang fast. I am not scared to race someone in a civic that is close to stock, far from it it would be funny. but if you see anything that makes it look modded, you can bet that they went all the way. it is nothing like you avrage riced out civic in the states. these guys dont play. i came from cali where if i had my mr2 I would be smoking most of the people on the street inless they where seriuos, cause to be honest there are to many wannabies driving around there. but up here it is stock or it is fast as hell. there is a guy on base that has a civic that has 240 + hp and is N/A. off base these guys dont consider you worth racing inless you got 300 hp or a power to wieght ratio that makes it fast like that. its like i got a fast car but I cant compete with much of anything of base. I am pritty sure i got the second fastest mr2 on base ( fastest is my friends, he got the newer motor that has 245 hp and hes bought it from some one who tuned it to about 340+ something. ) any way my main point is that back in the states i would be living it up with this car, but here I am going to have to drop some serious cash to compete with any one

Do u mean hes got the F20C1 from he S2000? I make more torque than that thing with a rachet, and whats the point of HP if it comes after the race is over?...but I do see your point, I just try (when i race, which is pretty rare now) not to think of it as a huge deal, nobodys watching, the guy doesnt know you...I just take my licks if i lose, learn from the mistakes I made, and move on

That is true, honestly you can throw out the money to make your car run 300+ Hp or more. but in another day, week, month, etc. there will be someone else out there thatll serve your ass on a silver platter. Then when that happens your whole thought of being "the fastest" will tear you up.

hehe well in reply to the reading comp comment, my spelling and grammer could use a lot of work also :P but ya my friend at misawa airforce base, his civic has a civic engine not a swap, not sure what model it is tho cause he took off all the badges. and in japan civic are not really compact cars, well they are but have you seen some of the small subarus... thoes are compact, like 6 feet long :P ... nothing in the states compares to them, but if they had them in the states you would see them modded up lol

Well where i'm from, in the midwestern states, if you have an import, you have to mod the hell out of it, or you're going to get lauged off the street/track by a muscle/domestic majority race crowd. And around here, you aren't even considered fast unless you're running in the 11/12's.

Yeah, pretty much any car with a body kit is frowned upon around here, even if it looks somewhat nice. Around here it's all mostly about performance.

nah not really.. I always tend to try to catch the fly by's when I'm not racing.

Awhile ago I left from a stop sign and I kid you not this cutty must've had 40-50 mph on me, wasn't paying attention in my rear view. Oh well, I was catching him looked down and saw 105-110 and it was near cop land so I said screw it.

Then just last night mid to late 60's stingray vette, guy laughing I was like yeah sure. Sounded like he had a cam it loped, but still I let him have it and murdered him from the light :lol2:

It's funny that most of the Civic owners here are the biggest JDM wanna-be's, and the Civics are what are the econo-shit boxes over there, not like aren't over here, either. I don't care what you have in a Civic, they are still econoboxes. You get them because they are cheap to buy, insure and modify. That means you're on a budget economy, and bought an econobox. If you had money would you buy a Civic? No.

This is why many zit faced, young punks and Julio's buy these cars.

I don't know why you'd be scared of something that cost less than my transmission. I guess they are fast because they bought a 500 dollar shitbox and put what they would have spent on a well built platform into mods or something.
