I hate smarts

I hate smart cars especially the smart roadster. The only thing its turbo does is make a mild whistleing sound. I mean who really caress about low emissions and eco friendly and all that Hippi stuff it does? lets just leave that till the ozone layer is completely gone or easier let the next generation worry about that. I spit on that car and any one who would consider even getting into one.

The Roadster has one of the worlds best chassis, given it's price, if not the best gearbox.

The fortwo is questionable, but it makes sense as a city car.

1: Smart cars rock
2: Great mileage=little money being burnt=sensible
3: V8s, SUPERFUN, but toys are toys and a v8 will always be but a toy.
4: Rather have a civic?
5: It is not some genaric car
6: In an ideal world everyone would drive one.
7: is a diesel engine, thus cleaner, longer burn(though it doesn't look it)

However, in defense...

Cars are very small polutants compared to other things:
1: 2 stroke engines like weedeaters and some lawn mowers
2: Factories and mills
3: Airplanes!---- think about this one for a sec... How often does a plane take off? How much fuel does each one carry? They purge the left over fuel into the air shortly before landing... Tell me how cars are worse than airplanes... There is about a 15,000:1 of cars to airplanes...

So... In the big picture, why are we not running standardized emission tests on other far more poluting engines and vehicles? I could carry on with this rant... But i would rant for too long...

I agree with the OP, smarts suck donkyballs! especially those for2's, look like those electrocars for invallids.

Could be, it end to miss such things as I'm stupid. But still, I hate those damn Smarts, overpriced plastic garbage (a Smart Fortwo 700 brabus aut costs € 24.175 or USD 31000(!)), it's a nice grocery car IF you only buy one bag of grocery. I doubt a crate of beer fits in that POS.

i like it, it's got great fuel economy, a coworker of my dad has one and only fills her tank about once per month and she drives a fair distance to work. the downside is that it doesn't have much room (what an understatement), it looks funny, and if you live in ottawa, around the carleton university campus, university students might do what they call "smart tipping", kinda like cow tipping but with a smart car. it's a great car for someone who only drives to work and doesn't buy groceries for a family, but it can hold a golf bag wich is good. anyone who bashes this car either doesn't see it's benefits or is an ignorant fool like the guy who started this thread and this car probably isn't for you anyway.

The smart is neat lookin with those euro style lights. I like it. And think of others not just yourself were not saying be a true huggin hippie but think of others personal opinions towards preservation.

Im not much of a fan of the smart cars either, I think they are awful looking, what is the shape all about?

this is a pretty old thread but ill answer anyways, it's about safety, mercedes designed it so that it could be light, fuel efficient, and safe. it's got all sorts of features to help it in all sorts of climates, it is probably safer than a civic (I think that's what i heard) anyways, go to the smart homepage and check it out.

This Smartcar (http://www.channel4.com/4car/road-tests/driving-impressions-2005/S/smart-forfour-brabus/forfour-brabus.html) doesn't seem like too bad of a performer. ;)
