My friend has a 2000 mustang gt and he's always bragging about how fast he is and how could smoke a TA is he wanted to (even though he's never raced one). He's got a cold air intake, flowmaster exhaust, and g-force tires. I was planning on getting a 98-02 TA in about a month and was wondering what you think is faster cuz my plan is to show him he's full of it.

The 4.6 GT is a very nice car and with those mods, he has about maybe like 10 more horse but a LS1 F-body should walk him fairy easy if thats all he has and the LS1 is healthy

I have a similar story trying to reveal itself.
A friend's neighbor just picked up a newer Mustang GT, and I guess this guy has talked shit about beating down LS1 cars. I plan on playing with the guy. I told my friend to tell him I would give him 1,000 RPM's. I would shift at 5,200 instead of my peak 6,200. :icon16:

2000 GT with I/E should have little to no chance on a stock LS1 T/A.

You'll clean his clock. 2000GT vs 98-02 TA is no contest as long as you hook up :smokin:

Here we go classic. GM FORD battle ..... The Truth of the matter is it doesn't matter whose got what. It is all about who is the better driver.. Any of the guys on this sight can agrre with me that it takes a certain kind of touch to lauch an LS1 F-body... especially with stock rear suspension. Spend so $$$$$ on the rear, get a good set of rubber and pratice your launch..... You'll walk all over most of your local Ford boys...

I can agree with that 100%. Still....if the race is 1/4 long, the LS1 car will pull the GT.
To give you an idea......
Most pre-05 Mustang GT's run around mid 15's here. Average 2.1-2.2 60' times.
I run 14.0 here, with 2.4 60' times. I need my clutch. :sly:
Of course, stock LS1 cars tend to run mid 14's here.

Eh....not too bad. Everyone gets affected by it. Turbo guys a little less, but it keeps the playing field pretty even.
It sucks being N/A here. You need a GREAT launch and a decent amount of power to even consider 12's. My goal is a 12.6 or so on street/DR's by the end of the season. I should have the power, and if I can pull off a 2.0-2.1 60' time, I should be good. Right now, the car would be low 13's with even a decent launch. That 105.23 MPH trap speed tells me the power is there.
