2005 Expedition- Anybody Own One?

I am considering trading my 2000 Expy for a '05; have read posts on other forums about numerous problems with the early '04's but not much info on the '05's. Anyone own one that can share info regarding reliability? My '00 only has 43K mi and has been very trouble-free. Usually with Ford, the first year of a new model has issues, then they work out the gremlins. Thinking that may be the case with the new Expy's. Thanks!

I have one. Traded in an '03 for it. The '03 was plagued with problems. Nothing serious, but very annoying. I do not have one complaint about the '05. Ford seems to be good about incorporating fixes in on the Expedition.

It has a much better eng and trans. (still could use more romp though)

We had it in the shop once for a broken check ball in the trans. That's it.

(I still like the Armada better, but my wife wanted the Expy)

Traded in an '03 for an '05. The only problem I've had was the module for the drivers AC/Heated seat. About an hour in the shop and all was well again. I have 12K miles on it.

Thanks for the feedback; sounds like the theory of '05s being better might be valid. damn-ford, interesting handle, BTW- I take it not a Ford lover ?(personally, I have a love/hate relationship with Ford's, but I sure have owned a bunch- 10 so far). I like the Armada, too, but after reading about some of the problems with them the Expy might be a safer bet.

Fitguy,

I have had very bad experiences with Ford in the past. (Taurus) I REALLY don't like them. But, this vehicle is for the wife, she liked the electric third seat that folds flat. Also, my buddy is a fleet manager for a Ford stealership, so he gets them for me at cost and below. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't buy one. But, I must say, this '05 is doing great so far at 10K miles. Far better than the '03. We will see how it goes.

The only thing that you are going to miss on that 2000 vs the 2005 is the rear seat leg room! I have an 03 and hate the rear leg room. It is like a small car compared to the previous versions of the expedtions. I am actually looking at getting rid of my o3 expedition for a 05 excursion because of the space issue.
