my brake light has been on since i bought my mkiii and one day my alternator went out so i took it to my new job "a toyota dealership" and had the alternator replaced and the light just went off anyone no anything about why it would do that?

You check your brake fluid? If it is even close to the low mark the "brake" light will come on.

Bad alternators can make your display do some strange things...
