Do you guys draw/wash your panel lines before or after clearcoating? Is there any benefit/drawback to either method or just personal preference?

If you do it before they will be shiny, not always a bad thing, often unnoticeable.
If you do it after, you run a chance of the clear softening the edge and filling the groove making it a little harder to get a uniform line.
So for a crisper line it is probably generally easier to do it before clear coating... - Mark

i clear coat before i put the panel lines. i use a sharp knife to scribe the lines, then brush some thinned out paint until the panel lines are evident.

Clearcoat will make them shiny. You want your panel lines to look dull.

So that's three votes for after and two for before!! Guess it's a case of suck it and see, but good to know there is no major problem either way.

The panel line is there to replicate a void, a channel if you say. So the light that reflects back at the viewer is slightly darker, so i would suggest a darker-than-the other paint, and paint it afterwards. Satin or flat. cause when there´s little light to reflect, how could that color be shiny ? ( ..and reflect light?)
