Hi guys, I have a question for you regarding different brands of wax and compound. I've searched but not found much.
As many people know here in the UK (and probably other countries too) Tamiya brand wax and compound is not available, so which brands do people prefer to use that will be available? I'm referring mainly to automotive products which would be sold in a store like Halfords etc. Also, are some brands safe to use and others not (e.g. will some brands damage decals), which should I look out for.
Thanks in advance.

Ive been using Meguires Scratch X coumpound and there Gold Class polish for years on my models and it works great. car paints in general are Lacquer based so if your using Lacquer paint then you should have no problems using any automotive type products. ive also used automotive polish and compound on acrylic with same results.

Products from Arexons and Sonax are more common in Europe so try that, I am using Arexons scratch remover and it works great they also have few waxes in their offer and for finish there is thing called Aquazero that is great for finish (some kind of liquid wax). Also there is one rubbing compound from Glasurit but be carefull with that because it is very strong and you will remove paint quickly if you rub to much.

I've tried several over the years and always end up going back to the Tamiya brand.
IMO, use the web and get some from a hobby store overseas....money well spent

Right I've had a look and the only waxes I could find were made by Meguires; Gold class wax and high tech wax IIRC.
Anyone have any experience of using these brands, Particularly over decals?

I recommend Scratch-X for compound and P21-S Concours Carnauba as a wax. DOn't worry about decals with P21-S as its a non-abrasive wax.
BTW I ordered Tamiya Compounds and Wax from Japan and got them in less than a week. But if you really don't fancy ordering online then the automotive stuff from Serious Performance will do great.
Cheers

I recommand Meguiars Deep Crystal System. It's a light coumpound and a Carnauba Wax in the same bottle. Very good result.
