I have always looked to this forum for help. I finally have a problem and I couldn’t find an answer. I have a 2000 LS V8. It has 92K miles. I have had many of the problems as the other people here including value cover gaskets, new rotors, new sway bar, new steering knuckles, new a-frame assembly, bad seat heaters and new ball joints. For some reason I still love the car.

Now with the new problem, I was in a front impact accident a few months ago. It resulted in around $8000 in damage. Since that time my A/C has not worked. I am on my third shop, a dealership. The original body shop opened the A/C and charged it after the wreck. Since it didn’t help, the dealership ran the diagnostic and said it needed a new compressor and dryer. It took 4 days last week to finish the $1500 job. When I picked it up, it still doesn’t work. Now they are saying it is a vent problem and is easily repaired. When the “Auto” button or top blower button only is on, it blows hot. When the top and bottom blower button is on, it blows semi-cool air from the top, and the heater blows from the bottom. When it does blow semi-cool, the driver’s side vent is cool on the top half and hot on the bottom half. I don’t know if they mixed the heater and A/C wires up when they took the dash off.

I found a thread here talking about the blender value. The dealership replaced my expansion value and removed the dash. Is this the same valve? Fortunately the ins. co. is paying for the A/C since it is associated with accident.

Thanks for any help you can give me. It is 90 degrees here today and an A/C would be nice.

No, the expansion valve is not the same as the blend valve. Expansion valve is A/C-only, while the blend valve is heat AND A/C. Sounds like the dash has to come out again...

Sorry for you troubles. Amazing how this car attaches to you, huh?

Thanks for the help. I took it back to the dealership this morning and told them to check the blender value. They're also checking the cluncking noise in the rear end. I have grown attached to it, but financially I think it is time to let go.

Thanks again.
