1995 climate control diagram

my bonneville was in the shop for 5 days for the climate control. they tell me that the doors are not opening and closing between heat and air. they can't seem to figure out why. they tell me that all the temp sensors and vacuums seem to be fine. i read on a early post about and actuator behind the glove box that could be bad, but the mechanic just told me that it might be one on the drivers side.

does anyone have a diagram of what is going on back there so i can try to fix it myself? i'm open to any advise also.

Is the climate control display blinking?

There's not a driver's and pasenger's temp actuator... there's only one and it's the one that you mentoined. Your mechanic can remove the inner part of the glove box and inspect the movement of the actuator by adjusting from full hot to full cold and back again. The actuator arm should have about a 90* swing. If it stops or doesn't move at all then that is the problem.

A mechanic would charge for about 5 hours of labor because the service manual says to remove the dash in order to change the actuator. I went this route myself as there wasn't much info on it at that time. Now, there has been several people that have changed it from underneath the passenger's side dash. yes the climate control does blink.

i pulled the inside of the glove box out last night to look at what is going on. i think i found where i need to get to but i'm not sure how everything comes apart. i've never taken apart a dash before. any advise on how to get to it?

i looked at the post you linked and that is very helpful in knowing what and where. i didn't find it when i did a search.

now if i can just get to it. i think i can fix it. boy is my mechanic never going to hear the end of this if i fix it and his guys couldn't.

There was one post here a while back that stated that the author used a hole saw to drill a couple of holes in the steel dash support and plastic duct. I wouldn't recomment that. Do it from underneath as the other linked thread indicates. Basically, woy need to remove the PCM and HVAC programmer above the passenger's hush panel in order to remove the heater core door. The programmer has a small harness that plugs into the actuator from the top and can be a little difficult to disconnect but it can be done. Once both components are removed you can reach your hand up to disconnect the actuator rod. Two screws hold the heater core cover onto the climate control housing. once these are removed, the cover and attached actuator will come out.
