Engine Inefficiency

After I hit 3800rpms the engine bogs a bit and feels like its really struggling all the way to redline. Its fine up till 3800, what could cause this quirk? I dont think its a stuck belt or tensioner because this happens only above a certain rpm in ALL gears and not before. Could it be that the system can't get ou the exhaust fast enough, injectors arn't fireing, spark plugs dying ? whats do you guys think?

I would check for a lack of fuel or a clogged exhaust system. Those are the only things that really make sense in your case.

Does it on full tank. What/how would I look for stuff in clogged exhaust?

how about a fuel filter maybe?

i dunno, would that make that kinda problem?

If the problem is that the engine isn't getting enough fuel it could either be a pump that's going, a clogged fuel filter, or some kind o regulator that's screwed up, I don't know what kind of regulators they have. If it's your exhaust you can try somehow unhooking it before the cat, that way the exhaust can escape freely and you'll know that's what it is. It is gonna be loud as hell though so I wouldn't recommend that unless you can get out into the country some place where nobody will bitch about it.

Does it do this if you just rev it up? or is it only when it's in gear?

Only if I'm in gear.

If it only does it when you're in gear I would say it's something else, I don't know what else it could be but if it revs nice but just runs shitty when it's in gear I would guess it's something in the drivetrain.

gotcha, the tranny is acting up, it 'pops' when i shift too hard/quick and the synchro's suck for 1st and reverse. I have to force it in and rub against something that feels like a fan sometimes to get it in gear.

sounds like two problems....

Tranny - seems like your syncro's are bad

Engine - put a new fuel filter on and the problem will probly go away

Check your spark plug wires. Take each one off one at a time and look at them. Sometimes wires get loose and that will make your engine bog at mid-high RPM.

Changed fuel filter *smells like gas still* and it seemed to gained like 30hp no kidding, but still bogs on occasion, will check spark plug wires next. What else could it be to make it bog?

And while lifting up rear end the back tires DO NOT ROLL. The e-brakes (drums) are locked, how do I fix that?

is it in neutral and is the parking brake off?

Neutral AND parking brake is off.

now that youve put the fuel filter on, run it for codes again
