I am having no mechanical pronblems but would like to know why my check engine light on my 94 accord will come on when I first start her up after she has been sitting for a bit( over night etc ) but if I shut the car off from driving it a bit it won't come on again unless it sits a very long time??

My abs light will come on after driving a bit as well?

Just some questions I thought I would ask all you experts.

I love my accord and hope to get at least another 50K out of her.

She is at 300K now.

When a CEL is thrown, a troubleshooting code is recorded by your ECU (car’s computer). This code is specific to the problem that the car has, and is saved for you to retrieve. Thousands of things can cause a CEL, so you really need to retrieve that code in order to figure out what is wrong.

To learn how to pull your own codes, go here and read everything:

If for some reason that isn’t sufficient for you, you may want to look at this:

Now you should have a code, so check out these pages. Between these 4 pages you will DEFINANTLY find your code and what part of the car it refers to.
